Computer workstations located in the Reference Department and the Childrens Department provide access for any library user to the Internet and scores of Web-based electronic information databases usually not available through residential Internet connections. Too numerous to list, the librarys subscription databases can provide useful, often definitive, information on any imaginable topic.
Use of the librarys Internet connection is governed by an Internet Access Policy, which applies to all users.
Internet Access Policy
Connection to the Internet is provided to library users for informational and educational purposes only and as such the librarys equipment cannot be used for any of the following:
- the viewing or transmission of material which reasonably could be considered pornographic or for prurient sexual interest,
- electronic mail (e-mail),
- chat rooms,
- recreational games or other amusements or diversions, including use of printers for such purposes,
- violations of any local, state, or federal laws.
Additionally,
- users may not tamper with or attempt to adjust workstations, including printers,
- users may not download to hard drives,
- users must conclude all searching or printing immediately when the library closes,
- use of an Internet workstation by any individual is limited to 30 minutes when others are waiting, or 2 hours per day,
- the library assumes no responsibility for use of the Internet by minors unaccompanied by responsible adults, and,
- the library assumes no responsibility for claimed damages of any kind arising out of use of Internet workstations.
Compliance with all parts of this policy is a condition of use.
